Lighting of the Sails: Memories

It’s late 2020 and the Sydney Opera House has just reopened it’s doors to the public since the covid-19 closure.

To celebrate the reopening and welcome audiences back we had an idea of creating a community-led sails projection.

Through a free to enter competition, we invited the audiences to share their favourite personal pictures taken at the House by using the hashtag #mysydneyoperahouse

Shared pictures were curated into a six minute sails projection which was also globally livestreamed to Facebook and YouTube – letting the world know Sydney Opera House was back open.
